NAVELIM: FC Goa thrashed Churchill Brothers SC 7-1 in the sub-junior Hero India youth league organised by AIFF, at Rosary ground, Navelim, on Friday.
FC Goa defender Reezvon Sebastiao Fernandes opened the score-line with a glancing header off a corner taken by midfielder Rohan Rajesh Mangaonkar in the second minute.
Three minutes later, FC Goa defender Dadapir Noorahmed Adoor’s power-packed shot made it 2-0. Later in the seventh minute, Churchill defender Ankush Talwar’s solo effort was thwarted by Billjoy Xavier Figueiredo. In the 18th minute Reezvon Sebastiao Figueirdo made it 3-0 for FC Goa with a long range shot.
Churchill Brothers’ Praveen Khole took a corner which was dipping into the FC Goa net but Reezvon Sebastiao Figueirdo rose high and tried to clear the ball with a header but the ball landed into FC Goa net in the 22nd minute. Velrose Velli Dias made it 4-1 for the Gaurs in the 32nd minute.
In the second half Reezvon Sebastiao Figueirdo missed a chance to score in the 38th minute. However, Reezvon’s shot made it 5-1 for FC Goa in the 50th minute.
Two minutes later, FC Goa substitute striker Vedant Naik tapped the ball inside the Churchill net to make it 6-1.
Rohan Rajesh Mangaonkar inflated the lead further in the 65th minute.
In another match at Nagoa panchayat ground, Verna, Salgaocar FC defeated Dempo SC by a solitary goal.
