PANJIM: The GFA President Elvis Gomes announced that the process for filing of nominations began on Monday for the elections which is scheduled to be held on October 28.
High Court Counsel Adv. John Abreu Lobo has already been appointed as the Returning Officer for conduct of the elections.
The last date of filing of nominations is September 28 till 12 p.m.
Scrutiny will take place on the same day after 12 noon and candidates with valid nominations will be allowed to withdraw till 5.30 p.m. on October 12.
In a marked departure from the procedure followed in the past, Gomes said that the Electoral College has been circulated among the active members giving details of the Elector List in terms of the National Sports Development Code making the process transparent to the contesting candidates.
It may be recalled that the GFA Constitution was amended to incorporate the provisions of the Sports Code overriding objections from a few quarters.
