BENAULIM: United Club of Orlim won five-goal thriller against Dando Boys Club, Benaulim in the Goa Football Association Third Division League Match (Salcete zone) played at Benaulim ground, on Monday.
In an evenly contest match, both the teams struggled to maintain possession of the ball in the initial minutes of play as they both played rather long balls to thwart the pressure.
However, after gaining momentum on a sunny outing, the Orlim side took the lead when Macklin Mascarenhas was played on through by Daniel Nair at goal and the former made no mistake in guiding the ball past the rival keeper, 1-0.
Up by a goal and riding on the few supporters gathered, Orlim inflated the lead at the half hour mark through Aston Vaz who gave his side a well deserved two-goal advantage.
However, the two goal deficit changed the attitude in the Dando Boys Club as they attacked in numbers as per the coach’s instruction and were soon rewarded with a goal in the 35th minute when Aliston Fernandes found Latif Shaik infront of the rival goal and the latter made no mistake to slam home from touching distance to make it 1-2.
The goal gave hopes of a comeback and the team finally were on level terms just before the breather as Dinimark D’Souza scored in the 44th minute. The teams were tied 2-2 at the breather.
Changing ends, Orlim side didn’t take long to take the lead once again as Daniel Nair scored from a long range effort to make it 3-2 in favour of Orlim.
Dando Boys Club tried their best to get into the game but Orlim side were more cautious this time around to avoid any more slip ups.
