PANJIM: The GFA Executive Committee today approved several names for inclusion in various sub-committees of AIFF for the new season following the recommendation by the president.
I-League: Schubert Furtado. Women’s: Lawrence Gomes. Competitions: Babli Mandrekar. Finance: Elvis Gomes. Futsal and Beach Football: Lavinio Gomes. Referees: Benjamin D’Silva. Technical and coaching: Brahmanand Sancoalcar. Players Status: Valmiki Menezes. Medical: Dr G Mardolkar.
The names were, it is learnt, picked up from various GFA’s sub-committees and chairmen of organising committees, which at one time were found wanting and as such were to be reconstituted.
The inclusion of some who never even cared to be present at any I-League match at Duler came in as a surprise and so also is the absence of former referee Anthony John D’Costa with FIFA badge. Albino Vales, an expert in GFA’s constitutional and legal matters with long standing is among those who find no place in the recommendation list alongwith a few others with vast experience.
The last date to submit names to AIFF was March 2, but it is learnt that the GFA had sought extension.
