MARGAO: Ghumteshwar Warriors defeated Mashem Cricket Club by five wickets to emerge champions of Alankar T10 cricket tournament, organized by Alankar Sports and Cultural Club of Dudhgala, Sanvordem, at SAG ground, Curchorem, on Monday.
Batting first, Mashem Cricket Club scored 94 for 6 in 10 overs. However, Ghumteshwar Warriors achieved the target in 19.2 overs with five wickets in hand. The winners were richer by 25,251 and a trophy while Mashem CC had to settle for Rs 17,171.
Earlier in the semi-final, Ghumteshwar Warriors defeated Tarvale CC by eight wickets while Mashem CC beat Sidhheshwar CC by 22 runs.
Sanvordem MLA Ganesh Gaonkar was the chief guest and gave away the prizes in the presence of Mashem CC president Sudesh Prabhudesai; Sanvordem panchayat sarpanch Sanjay Naik and Arun Bicholkar.

Individual prizes were awarded to Man-of-the-Tournament Santosh Satarkar (Mashem CC), Best Batsman Yash Prabhugaonkar (Mashem CC), Best Bowler Sagar Gosavi (Ghumteshwar Warriors), Man-of-the-final Pushpshill Desai (Ghumteshwar Warriors).
