MARGAO: Ghumteshwar Warriors registered a fluent eight wicket win over Oxford Marine to emerge champions of all-Goa Babu Brothers T20 cricket tournament, organized by Babu Brothers Sports Association, at SAG ground, Fatorda, here, on Sunday.

Batting first, Oxford Marine Cricket Club scored 133 for 7 in the allotted 20 overs with Reagan Pinto top scoring with 61 runs. For Ghumteshwar Warriors, Dashrath Dhotre and Santosh Upadaye shared two wickets each.
In reply, Ghumteshwar Warriors chased the target by scoring 136 for 2 in 17.2 overs. Vikas Dessai was the chief architect of their win as he scored an unbeaten half century. He was well supported Amey Dhameskar, who contributed 48 useful runs. For Oxford Marine Cricket Club, Vinod Wilson and Nasushad Shaikh captured one wicket each.
Vikas Desai of Ghumteshwar Warrires was adjudged Man-of-the-Match while Deepraj Gaonkar who excelled with both, bat and ball was adjudged Man-of-the-series and drove home with a Hero Hono Pleasure bike.
Ghumteshwar Warriors were richer by Rs 75,000 and a glittering trophy while Oxford Marine had to be content with a cash purse of Rs 35,000.
GCA president, Dr Shekhar Salkar was the chief guest and gave away the prizes in the prresence of Ashendra Naik, president of Babu Brothers Sporting Association; secretary Vijay Naik; MMC councillor Damodar Shirodkar and Sushant Shirodkar.

Dashrath Dhotre 2-26, Santosh Upadhye 2-24, Kevin D’Costa 1-18, Sahil Dhuri 1-29) lost to Ghumteshwar Warriors, 136 for 2 in 17.2 overs (Vikas Desai 50 not out, Amey Dhamsekar 48, Deepraj Gaonkar 29 not out. Vinod Wilson 1-41, Naushad Shaikh 1-27).
