Goa boys and girls emerged champions at 18th Junior National Tennis Ball Cricket Championships at Ambedkar Stadium, here on Thursday.
Goa boys defeated Chhattisgarh in the finals. Chhattisgarh scored 45 for 7 wickets in 10 overs. Tek Bahadur 3 wickets, Sarvesh Gaude 2. In reply, Goa scored the required runs in 7.3 overs. Mohsin Shaikh 17, Saiesh Shirgaokar 12. Man-of-the final:- Tek Bahadur.
In the semis,Goa defeated Punjab. Goa 67 in 10 overs. Mohsin Shaikh 42, Atish Sawant 13. Punjab 41 in 7.5 overs. Tek Bahadur 4 wickets, Rahul Satarkar 2. Man-of-the match: Mohsin Shaikh.
Earlier , Goa defeated Pondicherry (pre-quarters) and Maharashtra (quarter-finals).
Goa girls defeated Chhattisgarh in the finals. Chhattisgarh 49 in 8 overs. Dhanshree Gaude 2 wickets. Goa scored the required runs in 4.1 overs. Dhanashree Gaude 24 not out, Dahanashree Naik 11. Girl-of the final Dhanshree Gaude.
In the semis, Goa beat West Bengal. Goa scored the highest score of the championship – 92 runs in 8 overs. Melissa 29, Dhanshree Naik 29. West Bengal 54 in 8 overs. Melissa Dias 2 wickets, Sharmila 2. Girl-of-the match Melissa Dias.
Earlier, Goa girls had defeated Rajasthan in the quarter-finals.
In all, 27 boys and 17 girls teams took part.
Goa boys and girls were runner-up in the last 17th championships held in Dehradun.

Director SAG, Kanta Naik, Ropesh Naik, Uday Dangui, Zogusso Naik of Merces and other members of GTBCA, SAG coaches have congratulated the teams on their superb showing.
The teams were trained by Ajinkya Naik and Nilesh Naik of SAG .
The teams will return on June 20 at 7 a.m.
