CALANGUTE: Goa Velha Sports Club edged past Football Club of Siolim 5-4 via the tie-breaker to move into the semi-finals of St Anthony’s Cup football organized by St Anthony’s Sports Club, Marna, at church ground, Siolim, Saturday.
Chatur Naik put Goa Velha ahead in the 10th minute. Siolim fought back and drew level in the 25th minute through Mukund.
Changing over, a self goal saw Goa Velha regain the lead which was neutralized by Sangam Pednekar in the 50th minute when he converted a penalty which was awarded to them by the referee when Sidroy handled the ball in the danger zone.
In the resultant tie-breaker, Newton, Melroy and Joseph scored for Goa Velha while Mukund and Steven found the net for Siolim.
