FATORDA/VASCO: FIFA declared a 25 per cent discount on online tickets sale for the upcoming Under-17 World Cup India 2017.
The Local Organising Committee (LOC) launched phase three on Friday, which will last until October 5 on fifa.com/india2017/ ticketing.
Speaking to Herald, many football fans gave a suggestion that the ticket sales would be higher if sold at the counter.
Succoro Vaz, a football fan and futsal promoter, was of the opinion that ticket selling counters should be opened in Goa as the Goans have the habit of buying tickets across the counter.
While Kelly Furtado, football lover from Vasco opined that the ticket counters should be opened at the schools or colleges premises so that it would be more convenient for the young budding football lovers to buy.
Bernardinho Velho, GFA match commissioner; Menino Rodrigues, a fan from Raia and Stevan Baptist, upcoming player from Pedda-Benaulim felt that the organising committee should create awareness in the rural areas and there should be promotional activities regarding the same that will enhance the sale of tickets.
Adv Sunil Loran, secretary of Baina Sports Club, urged the association to organise camps at the college level to publicise the event and create awareness among the youth which would be the best way to increase the viewership as students are unaware of the discounts.
Goa witnessed a poor online sale of tickets while Kolkata, Kochi and Guwahati witnessed a sold out in the first two phases.
Jerose Oliveira of Parish Youth Nuvem felt that the tickets should be made available with the Goans clubs to increase the sale.
Meanwhile, LOC FIFA Office started functioning from Nehru Stadium, Fatorda.
Further, the sources disclosed that the broadcasting team visited the Nehru Stadium, and gave instructions to the concerned authorities.
