MARGAO: Guardian Angel High School, Sanvorden thrashed Manovikas English Medium School, Margao 4-1 in GFA’s under-14 Coca Cola football tournament, at Holy Trinity ground, Benaulim, on Wednesday. Guardian Angel led 2-1 at the breaker.
The high light of the day was a brilliant brace by striker Joyston D’Costa.
Guardian Angel took the lead in the 12th minute when Mark Fernandes slotted past the rival goalkeeper with a snap shot.
Manovikas regrouped quickly and equalized in the 27th minute through Druv Fal Dessai. However, in the next minute Guardian Angel scored their second through Joyston.
After resumption, Joyston inflated the tally and in the 68th minute, Kimran Fernandes drove the last nail into rival coffin.
In another match, St Xavier High School, Velim edged past Perpetual Succour Convent High School, Navelim 1-0. Stanley Fernandes struck the match-winner in the first half.
At Aldona ground, Kaushik Shetye scored the all-important goal in the 30th minute to give St Xavier HS, Moira a 1-0 win over St Anthony HS, Duler.
