GUSA youth trials at Calangute conclude

MAPUSA, NOV 6
The Goa United Soccer Academy trials in Calangute came to an end on Saturday. The club is looking for new recruits to field their U-14, U-16, U-18 teams.
This is the first time that the academy had open trials as their best players have gone to bigger clubs.
“We want to see our boys competing and not sitting on the bench,” stated Goa United’s organiser Fabian D’Souza. He is happy when his players go on to sign for bigger clubs, but he feels sad to see the hard work of his coaches go down the drain when these players are just kept on the bench and not utilised.
Fabian believes that if the players had stayed with his academy or joined a smaller club, they would have become better players with regular match practice.
Former player Valentine Ezezo is the current coach of the academy and he is assisted by Deggie Cardoso and goalkeeper coach Seby Noronha. Marcelino Pereira is also part of the coaching staff.
