Dempo SC’s Pedro Gonsalves
Unlike others teams, Dempo Sports Club didn’t give much room for Calangute Association in this fixture and the final result is the perfect proof of the same. But though the team had three different scorers on Friday, Dempo Sports Club’s Pedro Gonsalves was the clear standout on the field.
Starting the game in the midfield, Pedro marshalled the Golden Eagles as he made his presence felt on the pitch. Interceptions, deliveries, tackles, dragging back, Pedro was at it all.
His best moment arrived in the 27th minute when he saw the rival goalkeeper Sanij Bugde was out of position and shot straight into the goal from a 30-yard distance. For all those who don’t know Sanij, he is the same keeper who pulled off stunning saves against Sporting Clube de Goa also his remarkable double save to thwart Marcus Macarenhas from the penalty spot.
Pedro has been playing a vital role in coach Samir’s plan as he has been instrumental in their team’s last three wins. The midfielder had 3-4 successful tackles in the game, on Friday.
