Jordan scores as Our Lady of Rosary HS settle for 3rd place

FATORDA: Holy Spirit Institute High School, Margao defeated Fr Agnel Multipurpose High School, Verna 3-1 to emerge champions at the Salcete Taluka, U-14 Suborto Mukerjee football tournament, at artifical turf, Fatorda, on Saturday.
Holy Spirit HS Mevan Dias and Prince Singh gelled well in to dominate in the midfield and forefront while Shivam Kalangutkar did great under the bar. 
Jake Medeira was at his best for Fr Agnel HS under the bar, with Necio Fernandes and Jimmy Colaco at combining well however the team lacked vision on the forefront.
PE teachers, Menino Gomes of Fr Agnel HS and Mario Pereira of Holy Spirit HS  were for their teams.
It was Mevan Dias for Holy Spirit HS who put Jake Medeira, goalkeeper of Fr Agnel HS to test in the very first minute of the match with a curling long ranger of Richard Carvalho short pass from the centre of which the rival goalkeeper saved it.
Thereafter, in the 4th minute Mevan Dias for Holy Spirit HS released an arrow bond shot which travelled to far corner of Fr Agnel HS  net to score the first goal.
Mevan Dias scored his brace in the 17th minute for Holy Spirit HS, giving his team a 2-0 lead over the rivals.
However within a minute, Necio Fernandes pulled one goal back for Fr Agnel HS, as Jozwan Cardozo rolled over the ball to Necio Fernandes who released a floater from the 18 yards box to give the team some hope.
Change of ends saw Holy Spirit HS displaying a well formatted football in almost all departments with their diplomatic moves in the forefront and accuracy passing while Fr Agnel HS couldn’t cope up with the pressure put on by the rival side.
The third goal for Holy Spirit HS came in the 52nd minute as Harash Patre scored a direct free kick to put the final nail in the coffin as Holy Spirit HS emerged champs of the U-14 Subroto Cup (Salcete Zone).
Earlier, Our Lady of Rosary High School, Fatorda defeated Regina Martyrum High School, Assolna 2-0, to win the third place of the tournament.
The first half was locked in a goalless draw. 
Jordan Borges scored his brace for Our Lady of Rosary HS, in the 46th and 53rd minutes respectively, he should have scored a hat trick in the 56th minute but his strike hit the rival cross bar denying him the goal.
At full time, the score was 2-0.
