FATORDA: Holy Spirit Institute, Margao downed St.Alex HSS, Curtorim 3-1 to move into the quarter-finals of the U-17 Subroto Mukherjee Salcette Taluka football tournament organised by DSYA, at Astroturf ground, Fatorda, on Saturday.
Holy Spirit netted the first goal of the match through Aditya Salgaocar who tapped the ball inside St Alex the nets off Mevan Dias’ assist in the 20th minute.
Nine minutes later, Aaron A Dias equalised through a penalty kick for St.Alex HSS.
In the second half, Mevan Dias scored his brace for Holy Spirit to make it 3-1.
In the other matches of the day, The Kings School, Sao Jose de Areal edged past Holy Rosary Convent HS, Nuvem 2-1 to move into the quarter-finals.
Joshua Afonso netted a brace for The Kings School while Rio Costa netted a goal for Holy Rosary Convent HS, Nuvem.
In another match, Rosary HSS, Navelim defeated Regina Martyrum HS, Assolna 1-0 to move into the semi-final.
Chadel Fernandes netted the match winner for Rosary HSS, Navelim.
