PARODA: Immaculate Conception High School, Avedem – Paroda and Assumpta Convent High School, Sarzora booked their places in the quarter-finals of the late Ramnath D Volvotkar U-17 inter-school football tournament, organised by ‘INSIGHT’ the Society for Sports Culture Youth Affairs and Charity in association with DSYA, at Gudi ground, on Sunday.
Immaculate Conception HS had to wait until the tie-breaker to shoot-out Perpetual Convent High School of Navelim 4-3 (0-0). Both the teams failed to score in the regulation time.
In the tie-breaker, Richard Lima, Dylan Oliveira, Alister Menezes and Mackson Dias were on target for the winners while Velon Rebello, Ashutosh Chari and Joyson Coutinho found the mark for Perpetual Convent HS.
Royson Gomes and Joshua Colaco played well for Perpetual HS while player- of-the-match Makson Dias excelled for the winners.
In the second match, Assumpta Convent High School, Sarzora outwitted Damodar English High School, Gudi 2-0.
Nash Fernandes opened the scoring for Assumpta Convent School in the 30th minute off a pass from Jowen Fernandes. Later, Jayden Vaz doubled the lead in the 39th minute off an assist from Senoy Oliveira.
Assumpta’s Nash Fernandes was declared as player-of-the-match.
