Rajasthan Royals have appointed Riyan Parag as their new captain, ushering in a new chapter after Sanju Samson moved to Chennai Super Kings. The 24-year-old, who debuted in 2019, has spent all seven IPL seasons with the franchise, reflecting the team’s emphasis on continuity and youth.

Parag briefly led the side last season in eight matches during Samson’s injury absence. Though the Royals managed only two wins and finished ninth, Parag impressed with the bat, averaging 38.57, including a career-best 95 against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens.
Across 84 IPL games, Parag has scored 1,566 runs at a strike rate of 141.84. His standout 2024 season yielded 573 runs, while last year he struck at 166.52 despite a lower aggregate of 393 runs.
