Rohit Sharma has added to Mumbai Indians’ growing concerns after sustaining a hamstring injury during their clash against Royal Challengers Bengaluru. The veteran opener walked off the field in the sixth over after scoring 19 off 13 balls, raising doubts over his availability for the next game.
According to a report by Cricbuzz, Rohit is set to undergo scans, with his participation in Mumbai Indians’ upcoming match against Punjab Kings on April 16 hinging on the results.

The development comes at a difficult time for Mumbai Indians, who are currently struggling in the Indian Premier League 2026 season. The team sits eighth on the points table after suffering three consecutive defeats, and losing an experienced campaigner like Rohit could further dent their campaign.
There has been no official update from the franchise so far. Speaking after the match, teammate Sherfane Rutherford admitted uncertainty around the injury. “I’m not entirely sure yet, perhaps it’s a bit of a hamstring issue—but I can’t say for certain,” he said.
Meanwhile, Virat Kohli also briefly sparked concern after not taking the field during the second innings due to an ankle niggle. However, teammate Krunal Pandya downplayed the issue, suggesting it was not serious.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru remain in strong form, currently placed third on the table after securing a convincing 18-run win, posting 240 runs in their 20 overs.
