MARGAO: Ishita Colaso claimed a double crown at the MCC All-Goa Major Ranking Table Tennis Tournament, which concluded at the multipurpose stadium in Fatorda. Yug Prabhu, Sachi Dessai, Chandan Caro, and Rishan Shaikh each secured titles in their respective categories. The tournament, one of the State Selection events, was organised by Margao Cricket Club under the aegis of the Goa Table Tennis Association.
In the boys U-11 category, Yug Prabhu triumphed over Kavish Dalvi with a commanding 3-0 victory (11-7, 11-5, 11-4). Sachi Dessai won the girls U-11 title after a hard-fought match against Tisha Shaikh, edging her out 3-2 (11-7, 9-11, 8-11, 11-7, 11-2). In the U-13 category, Chandan Caro and Ishita Colaso emerged victorious with identical 3-0 scorelines, as Chandan defeated Ruhaan Shaikh (11-5, 11-4, 11-4) and Ishita beat Kavyaa Khalap (11-2, 11-2, 11-3). Rishan Shaikh pulled off an upset in the boys U-15 category by defeating top seed Chandan Caro 3-1 (11-8, 11-6, 7-11, 11-9). Ishita Colaso continued her stellar performance by upsetting top seed Neeza Kamat 3-0 (11-4, 11-8, 11-7) in the girls U15 category, securing her double crown.
Tina Verlekar Mehta, former National player (chief guest), Ulhas Verlekar (guest of honour), GTTA President Sudin Verenkar, chief referee Deepak Chodankar were among those who graced the closing function.
