RAIA: Loyola High School, Margao got the better of Marina High School Verna 5-3 via the tie-breaker to move into the final of the Fr Peter SVD Memorial football tournament, played at SVD Seminary, Damon, Raia ground, on Thursday.
It was a story of two halves with both teams scoring in either halves, but the winners had to be decided by the penalty shootout.
Ashvek Jadhav of Marina took a curling free kick in the 18th minute which coolly dipped in to the Loyola nets to open the account for Marina. The Verna school led 1-0 at the break.
Crossing over, the ball was mostly confined to midfield play. However,  Loyola’s never say die attitude helped them to find the deserved equaliser late into the game through Adriel Rodrigues. In the tie-breaker, Loyola proved to be better shooters.
In the other semi-final, Our Lady of Rosary High School Fatorda  sailed into final defeating Our Lady of Poor HS Tilamol 2-0.
Yash Powar and Sidney Dias scored for Rosary.
On Sunday, Loyola HS meet Our Lady of Rosary High School Fatorda in the final, at 4 p.m.
