PANJIM: Loyola High School, Margao defended their title by defeating Don Bosco High School, Panjim 2-0 in the final of Royceton Gomes memorial invitational under-15 boys inter-school football tournament, on Wednesday. The winners led 1-0 at half time.
Loyola’s opened well by creating good openings. They opened the score in the 16th minute through
Samward Pereira.
Don Bosco had a couple of near misses but the goal-keeper of Loyola’s, Keanne D’Souza was rock-solid.
In the second session, Don Bosco looked aggressive and took a number of shots but Keanne left them frustrated.
In the dying minutes, Aaron Barreto scored the second goal for Loyola’s to seal the title.
Aman Govekar, captain of Don Bosco was adjudged Best Player of the tournament while Saiesh Kunkolkar of Don Bosco was awarded the Best goalkeeper of the tournament. The highest goal scorer of the tournament award went to Aaron Pereira of Loyola.
