CALANGUTE: Madda Vaddo, Calangute scored a solitary goal victory over Saipem, Candolim in the final to win the Calangute Constituency inter-ward football tournament organized by United Boys of Camottim, at Dr Gustavo Monteiro ground, Candolim, recently.
After a goalless first half, Madda Vaddo were lucky to forge ahead in the 48th minute through Elison Fernandes. Trailing by a goal, Saipem went all out in search of the equalizer but their forwards failed to find the net.
Madda Vaddo managed to defend the goal and win the title.
The MLA of Calangute constituency Michael Lobo was the chief guest and gave away the trophies to the winners in presence of guest of honour Fr Peter Simon Mascarenhas, Calangute ZP Shawn Martins, Micky Soares, Elvis Pereira, Joelif Simoes and Duarte Fernandes.
The following individual prizes were awarded: Upcoming Player Privesh Parab, Ashwin D’Souza and Jose Lopes (defenders), Alex Pereira (goalkeeper), Izhar Khan (midfielder), Bapu Pednekar (forward) and Elison Fernandes (first goal of the final). Bruno De’Souza compered.
