PANJIM: Maddo Vaddo defeated Umta Vaddo 2-1 in the final of 2nd Adolf Silveira Memorial Rolling Cup 2016 Calangute inter-ward football tournament organised by St Peter Boys, Tivai-Vaddo, Calangute, at Calangute Association ground, recently.
At lemon break, the scoreboard read 1-1.
Maddo Vaddo broke the deadlock in the 15th minute of play through Valeriano Rodrigues.
Soon thereafter, just before the lemon break, UmtaVaddo levelled through Marshal Fernandes.
The winning goal for Maddo Vaddo came 10 minutes before the final whistle from the boots of Dylan Fernandes of a powerful left footer.
At lemon break, on behalf of the organisers Francis Rodrigues introduced the chief guest Bruno Coutinho, Arjuna awardee and former international football player; Guest of honour Pratesh Shirodkar, FC Goa player; special invitees Domnic D’Souza, former Dempo player; Allwyn Fernandes, ex-Sesa player; Agustinho Rodrigues, former Salgaonkar player; Domnic Pereira, ex-Sesa player; Nicholas Silveira, former Sporting Clube De Goa player and Anthony Menezes, former Zilla Parished member Calangute Constituency to the match officials and players.
The winners and runners-up were awarded a cash prize of Rs 15,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively plus trophies.
Other individual prizes awarded were: First scorer of the final Valeriano Rodrigiues (Maddo Vaddo), Best goalkeeper of the final Frazer Fernandes (Umta Vaddo),
Best defender Ashwin Fernandes (Maddo Vaddo), Best midfielder Dylan Fernandes (Maddo Vaddo), Best forward Siddarth Simepurushkar (Umta Vaddo), Man-of-the-match Richard Cardozo (Maddo Vaddo), Best disciplined team Gaura Vaddo.
Anton Xavier compered and proposed the vote of thanks.
