DAVORLIM: Margao SC blanked Sao Jose de Areal 2-0 to move in the quarter-finals of the 12th Rosary Cup football tournament played at Davorlim ground, on Wednesday.
The first half score was a goalless draw. In the first half, Margao SC through Cliff Barretto floated a ball to Joel Camara in the 12th minute but Joel squandered the opportunity to score.
Thereafter, Sao Jose de Areal through Aggie Antao’s header hit the goal post of Margao and rebound back to play. Selwin Duatre, who was lurking inside the box of Margao SC was well tackled by Clement Pinto of Margao SC in the 25th minute.
Change of ends saw Margao SC dominating the proceedings with Clencio Pinto and Joel Camara tormenting the rival defence. In the 41st minute, Clencio released a venous strike which was blocked by Aggie of Sao Jose De Areal in the 42nd minute.
Later, Margao SC pumped in two goals. Joel scored 1-0 in the 45th minute and Edgar Noronha netted in the 47th minute off a well assisted supplies for both the goals.
