DICARPALE: Navelim Villagers Union defeated St Anthony Sports Club, Assolda 1-0 to enter the semi-final of the 7th Our lady of Fatima Cup football tournament, organised by Dicarpale Sports Club, at Dicarpale ground, on Monday.
Navelim Villagers started the match on the front foot and Sandy Colaco broke the deadlock for Navelim in the 15th minute which proved to be the match-winner.
St Anthony had two great opportunities to get back into the game. First- Succor Fernandes missed a sitter in the 20th minute and Vicky Fernandes too couldn’t get his shot on target with only keeper to beat in the 39th minute.
Navelim defended resolutely in the second session to protect their slender lead.
