BENAULIM: Navelim Villagers Union got the better of Dando Boys Club, Benaulim 4-1 to move into the quarter-finals of the 22nd Dando Boys Cup football tournament, organised by Dando Boys Club Benaulim, at Sao Joao Baptist ground, Dando-Benaulim, on Tuesday.
It took ten minutes for Navelim to open the account through Danstan Fernandes’ downward header off Clinton Niasso cross from the right flank.
At the other end, Benaulim’s Vellesly Afonso’s long ranger hit the Navelim post and went out of play in the 12th minute.
Minutes later, Clinton Niasso doubled the account for Navelim as he tapped the ball inside Benaulim nets off Americo Rodrigues’ assist.
In the second half, Benaulim pulled a goal back through Nicholas Rodrigues’ free-kick in the 46th minute.
As the match progressed in the 48th minute, Rovan Pereira further inflated the lead for Navelim.
In the 50th minute, Clinton Niasso netted his brace and 4-1 for Navelim.
Dando Boys tried their best to get back into the game but the Navelim stood their ground to hold on their lead.
