RAIA: Our Lady of Fatima Sports Club, Baida-Chinchinnim, emerged champions defeating Rebello Pandal, Maina-Curtorim, 5-3 in the final of 5th all-Goa 8-a-side football tournament organised by Davorlim Sports and Cultural Club, at the Laymati ground, Davorlim, recently.
The match started on a fast pace with attacking intent from both sides in front of a large crowd of spectators. Our Lady of Fatima Sports Club’s Sherio Gomes was the star of the match, netting a brilliant hat-trick. Velrose added a brace for the winning side.
For Rebello Pandal, Jessel Carneiro scored twice, while Anslem Fernandes added one more to their tally. Avertano Furtado, former minister for fisheries and labour, was the chief guest at the prize distribution ceremony. He presented the awards in the presence of Fr Domnic Noronha, Vallab Varik, Atul Verlekar, Francisco Dias, Ravesh Sinde, Anthony Colaco, Niclau Fernandes, Samir Naik, Manuel Costa, club officials and other dignitaries.
