RAIA: Parish Youth Nuvem scored a solitary goal victory over Cuncolim Union 1-0 in the semi-final to march into final of 3rd Cavelossim Villagers UK Cup 2025 organised by Santa Cruz Club of Cavelossim at Fr Druston and Wellington ground, Cavelossim, on Monday.
In the first quarter of the match, PY Nuvem’s Inacio Colaco took a direct free-kick from the edge of the box but ballooned over wasting a good chance.
For Cuncolim Union, Aaron Fernandes and Vinod Velip had a good game and time and again penetrated the PY Nuvem defence but stopper-back Joywin Costa stood his ground to thwart Cuncolim Union forwards from getting a close at the goal.
A corner kick taken by Wilson Fernandes was headed by Daulat Dessai to Viraj Velip, whose stiff grounder was punched out by PY Nuvem goalkeeper Macwino Colaco to end the first half goalless draw.
In the second half, Cuncolim Union had more chances to break the deadlock with Daulat giving a through pass to Wilson, who squared the ball to Clifton Fernandes, whose power-packed drive was blocked by defender Joywin Costa.
However, PY Nuvem in a counter-attack against the run of play, Cedar Colaco gave a long floated pass to Shenoy Colaco on the right wing, who, dribbled past two Cuncolim Union defenders and took an angular shot that beat goalkeeper Gaonkar to lead PY Nuvem 1-0 in the 55th minute, which proved to be the winning goal.
