Parish Youth Nuvem enter quarters

Thump SJ de Areal 5-1 with a three goal lead at half time; Albino, Steven, Jesus, Jose and Remy score a goal each

PANJIM: Parish Youth, Nuvem demolished Sao Jose de Areal Sports Club 5-1 to enter the quarter-final of the 39th Cana Benaulim football tournament, organized by Cana-Benaulim SA, at St John the Baptist ground, Dando-Benaulim, on Saturday.
Nuvem raced to a 3-0 lead with just a quarter into play. Striker Albino Pereira put his team ahead in the sixth minute after receiving a fine through pass from medio Inacio Colaco to beat rival goalkeeper Godfry Costa from an acute angle.
Midfielders Steven Colaco and Jesus Oliveira then added a goal each for a comfortable 3-0 lead at the breather.
After the restart, Areal defended well and managed to reduce the margin in the 45th minute through striker Alvito Moura but any chance of a comeback was quickly ruled out with Nuvem playmaker Jose Colaco converting a penalty in the very next minute.
To further demoralized the Areal boys, Nuvem medio Remy Colaco scored off an Albino Pereira assist with just a minute left for the final whistle.
Earlier, chief guest Fr Lucio Dias, parish priest of St John Baptist church, Benaulim and guest of honour Emiliano Fernandes were introduced to the teams.
