PANJIM: PCCE, Verna and Don Bosco, Panjim recorded victories in men’s inter-college cricket championship organized by Goa University at University ground, Taleigao, Wednesday.
PCCE, Verna thumped Dhempe, Mira Mar by nine wickets.
Dhempe won the toss and elected to bat. They scored 108/10 in 19.4 overs. Sunny S 19, Krishnaraj C 19, Vaibhav F 17 were the top scorers for Dhempe while Vinit N, Shubham P and Yash P picked up two wickets each for PCCE.
PCCE managed to overhaul the target for the loss of one wicket in 11 overs. Yash P (54 retired hurt) was going all guns blazing until he was struck by the ball while completing a run. He was unable to continue his innings and had to be carried off the field by his team mates as there was no stretcher at hand at the ground. Varad P 26 not out and Shubham A 21 were the other top scorers for PCCE while only Nazrul M managed to get a wicket for Dhempe.
Don Bosco, Panjim overcame Don Bosco Engineering, Fatorda by three wickets.
Batting first, Don Bosco Engineering put up 108/10 in 20 overs. Alakh Devari 33, Sanket Mandrekar 22 were the top scorers. Akshay Madkaikar 3/21 was the top wicket taker. Don Bosco Panjim overhauled the tally in 19.2 overs. Jaganath Gadekar 37 not out and Gautam Kankonkar 25 were the top scorers for Don Bosco Panjim while Vaibhav Naik 2/26 was the best bowler.
