MAPUSA: Pilerne SC managed to edge past Assanora United FC by 3-2 margin in the Goveia Cup 2024, organised by YSC Colvale, played at Colvale Church ground, on Wednesday.
In the 12th minute, Pilerne SC went ahead through Aniket Naik who tapped in a rebound of Assonora GK Anil Desai who failed to hold on to a stinging shot by Rajat Chopdekar, 1-0.
In the 19th minute, Pilerne went 2-0 ahead through a Devendra Pednekar’s volley giving no chance to Assanora goalkeeper.
Pilerne carried on their onslaught and netted their third goal in the 27th minute with Rajat Chopdekar finishing the ball into the nets off a swinging cross by Anson Pereira.
On crossing ends Assonora United came with renewed ideas and managed to score twice.
In the 48th minute, Assanora reduced the margin through a Prajot Arabekar penalty (1-3).
In the 60th minute, Jovian Conceicao scored for Assonora with a beautiful volley off a corner by Gaurav Naik. (2-3)
