MAPUSA: Progress High School, Sankhali grounded Shiroda High School, Shiroda 6-0 to storm into the final of under-17 boys North District inter-school Subroto Mukerjee football final, at Sesa FA ground, Sirsaim, on Thursday.
Progress High School led by a goal at half time, thanks to a self-goal by a Shiroda player.
Post resumption, Progress High School stamped their authority over their rivals by scoring five times. Ashley Cardozo doubled the advantage with a power-packed 25-yarder, followed by goals from Lionel D’Souza and Daniel Lobo.
Subsequently, Glevito Miranda and Malcom Gonsalves were introduced from the bench and the duo soon got their names on the score sheet.
First, Glevito worked his magic past a couple of rival defender to finish clinically and then, Malcom unleashed a scorching 20-yard strike that left the rival keeper stunned, 6-0.
Progress will take on Tiswadi winners Fr Agnel Higher Secondary School, Pilar in the North District final on Saturday, at the same venue, at 9 a.m.
