Rohit ‘two’ good for Panchwadi

MARGAO: A fine brace by striker Rohit Gaonkar enabled Panchwadi United Sports Club to carve out a fluent 2-0 win over Union of Chinchinim Villagers and advance into the quarter-finals of 41st Chandor Seamen Cup inter-village football tournament organized by Chandor Club, at Chandor ground, on Thursday.

MARGAO: A fine brace by striker Rohit Gaonkar enabled Panchwadi United Sports Club to carve out a fluent 2-0 win over Union of Chinchinim Villagers and advance into the quarter-finals of 41st Chandor Seamen Cup inter-village football tournament organized by Chandor Club, at Chandor ground, on Thursday. 
Panchawadi led 1-0 at the breather. They held the upper hand in the opening session and kept their opponents on the back foot. Persistent forays paid of the dividends in the 30th minute when Rohit bulge the net.
Stung by setback, Chinchinim Villagers tried their best but failed to galvanise their attacks.
After the break, Panchawadi continued to dictate terms and called the shots against the rival goal. Rohit, who was in thick of action, struck second time to register his brace.
Down by 0-2, Chinchinim Villagers tried their best to come back into the game but rival defence were alert in protecting their citadel intact.
