PARODA: Rosary High School, Navelim and OL of Succour High School, Nagoa booked their places in the semi-finals of the late Ramnath D. Volvotkar Memorial 2nd All Goa inter-school U-17 boys football tournament organised by “Insight” the Society for Sports, Culture, Youth Affairs & Charity, at Gudi – Paroda ground, on Tuesday.
In the first match, Rosary High School, Navelim downed Immaculate Conception High School, Avedem–Paroda 3-1 via the tie-breaker. Both the teams were tied at goalless at the normal time.
In the ensuing tie breaker, Rosary HS scored through Adarsh Raj, Noah Louis and Viresh Sakki.
Only Christ Oliveira was on target for Immaculate Conception HS. Adarsh Raj of Rosary HS was adjudged as the player-of-the- match.
In the second match, down by a goal OL of Succour HS, Verna edged past Infant Jesus High School, Colva 2-1.
It was substitute Suraj Rathod who gave the lead to Infant Jesus HS at the start of the second session off a pass received from Aman Kumar in the 33rd minute. OL Succour HS fought brilliantly and scored two goals.
First, in the 42nd minute, Bloyton Estrocio equalised for OL of Succour HS and later Swanon Menezes scored the match-winner in the 53rd minute. Swanon Menezes of OL of Succour HS was declared as player-of-the-match.
The semi-finals will be played between Rosary HS, Navelim and Regina Martyrum HS, Assolna while OL of Succour HS, Nagoa will clash with OL Mother of the Poor HS, Tilamol on August 22.
