MAPUSA: SAI Veterans emerged champions of first Morjim Veterans Cup after defeating Calangute Veterans 3-0, at Village Panchayat ground, Morjim, recently.

Calangute players Bruno Coutinho and Robert Fernandes tried to exert pressure on the rival citadel but a solid defence of Mathew Gonsalves and Vanancio Gonsalves failed to bulge under pressure.
In the last minute of the regulation time, Shailesh Miskin made it 3-0 for SAI Veterans.
For the prize distribution Satish Shetgaonkar ZP member, Surekha Shetgaonkar Sarpanch VP Morjim, Subodh Mahale Sarpanch VP Mopa , Parish Priest Fr. Francis Fernandes, Fatu Shetgaonkar VP Morjim Panch Member, Vijay Mopkar VP Mopa Panch Member, Arun Shetgaonkar and Clement D’souza were present.
Winners trophy and cash prize of Rs 50,000 were handed over to captain of SAI Veterans by all the guests.
