MAPUSA: Saipem Boys A managed to edge past Young Boys of Aradi B 2-1 in the Saipem Inter-ward soccer tournament, at Candolim ground, on Saturday.
The first session was mostly restricted to midfield play.
It was only in the 32th minute that Saipem goalkeeper Aniksha brought a superlative save of Sidhant Bandodkar effort.
In the 40th minute, Sakib Situr placed the ball to the right of Saipem keeper of a through cross from Sidhartha Bandodkar.
In the last quarter of the match, Saipem regrouped themselves and had series of attempts at the rival goal.
Saipem’s Gokuldas Bandodkar power-packed shot missed the target narrowly.
Finally in the 55th minute, Saipem equalised through Rohan Morajkar of a good cross from Mahadev Bandodkar.
In the dying minute of play, Paul Cardozo placed the ball past the onrushing on top of Aradi keeper Anand Maulingkar, to make it 2-1.
