Strikes from Liston Colaco and Stephen Satardekar ensured their spot in the semi-finals.
Salgaocar FC Juniors started slow in the first half as they took on their Royal Wahingdoh counterparts cautiously. Neither were they able to make a convincing run to their opposition’s post as most of the game was played out in the middle of the field.
Liston however was in fine form right from the start as he made plenty of runs down the left flank but lacked support to come up with a finish. The uneventful first half ended goalless as the teams went in to reconsider their strategy.
As soon as the second half kicked-off the difference was very much visible in the Goan outfit. Playing out a beautiful passing game and cutting in close on a few occasions to frustrate the Highlanders.
Royal Wahingdoh FC cracked under the mounting pressure when they conceded a free-kick in the 72nd minute just about 30-yards from their goal. This proved to be fatal as Liston, who stepped up for the set-piece, curled the ball past the rival custodian on the right just kissing the post on its way in.
The next goal was a result of another attempt by Liston as he received a pass from Daniel which hit the goalkeeper and fell in the path of Stephen, who had only to tap it in and he did so without any delay. This saw the Greens sail into the semi-finals where they will face the runners-up of Group A, Tata Football Academy.
