Salgaocar FC Jrs thrash Goa Velha

PANJIM: Salgaocar FC Juniors continued their fine run in the GFA U-20 Taca Goa tournament thrashing Goa Velha 7-0, at Cansaulim ground.

With this win, Salgaocar now have 10 points from three outings. At half time, Salgaocar FC Juniors were leading 3-0.
The match got off to a pulsating start as Salgaocar Juniors netted the fastest goal of the tournament inside the first 10 seconds with a well-planned move. From the kick off, Samuel Costa sent in a long ball into Goa Velha box which found Jason Barbosa who let fly into the goal.
Salgaocar had to be patient for their second goal which came in the 37th minute when another brilliant move initiated from the defence found Samuel on the right, who dribbled past the opponents and crossed the ball to Myron Borges who chested it calmly before slotting home to double the advantage.
Salgaocar FC then made it 3-0 just before the break as Dominic Soares made a brilliant solo run from deep overpowering three Goa Velha defenders before drilling the shot low past the keeper.
The second half essentially belonged to striker Naro Shrestha, as he found back of the net thrice within the space of 35 minutes. His first and Salgaocar’s fourth was a tap in after Dominic had done the spadework and came in the 48th minute.
Both Naro and Jason proved to be a handful for the Goa Velha defenders and their combination proved to be lethal. Naro scored his second of the evening and Salgaocar’s fifth at the stroke of the hour, and completed his hat-trick in the 82nd minute, both off fine assists from Jason.
The Greens finished off the evening in style with scoring their seventh goal seconds before the final whistle. Jason found himself in the thick of action yet again and his cross found Aliston Mendes in the box to score from close range.
