MAPUSA: Sanquelim Sports Club edged past Sirsaim Sports and Cultural Club 2-1 in GFA’s Third Division League football match, at Nachinola ground, here, on Friday.
With today’s win Sanquelim SC qualify for the play-offs while on the other hand Sirsaim SCC have been eliminated.
Both the teams were locked in a goalless draw at the breather.
On crossing over, it was Sirsaim SCC who took the lead in the 55th minute through Junior Rodrigues.
However, four minutes later, Milind Rane came up with the equalizer while Rajat Sawant scored the all important goal in the 88th minute.
At Duler ground, AA de Moira got the better of GWFC through a 3-1 margin. All the goals came in the first session of play.
Moira shot into the lead in the sixth minute through Sachidanand Satelk while minutes later, Craig Menezes made it 2-0 for the winners by leaping high to nod home David D’Souza corner. GWFC managed to pull one goal back in the 32nd minute through the boots of Manjunath Rathod only to see Siddesh Kesarkar take the tally to 3-1 for Moira in the 43rd minute.
