MARGAO: A fine hat-trick by striker Ryan Fernandes enabled Sarzora Boys to register a fluent 4-0 victory over Fatima Sports Club ‘A’ to emerge champions in the CRC inter-ward football tournament final organized by CRC, Chinchinim, at church ground, Chinchinim, on Sunday. Sarzora Boys led 1-0 at the break.
Sarzora Boys opened the scoring through Ryan Fernandes.
Crossing over, Sarzora Boys continued to enjoy the better share of exchanges and tormented the rival defence. Ryan doubled the lead when he punted the ball into the far corner of the net.
Sarzora Boys took full advantage of the lacklustre Fatima SC defence and Ryan who was in thick of action completed his hat-trick with a powerful shot from outside the box.Wayne Vaz drove the last nail into the rival coffin in the dying minutes.
Sarzora Boys were richer by Rs 10,000 while Fatima Sports Club ‘A’ had to settle for Rs 8,000.
Individual prizes were awarded to Best defender Domingos Rebello (Fatima SC ‘A’), Best goalkeeper Flyod Dias (Sarzora Boys), Best player Nickson Rebello (Fatima SC ‘A’), Youngest player of the tournament Revlon Fernandes (Bandfol).
