NAVELIM: SCC Cavelossim and Vasco Sports Club match ended in a 1-1 draw in the GFA Goa Pro League match played at Navelim ground, on Thursday.
In the first half, the score was nil.
SCC Cavelossim should have scored in the very 2nd minute as Mario Mascarenhas moved ahead with the ball after receiving it from Joshua Vaz but his loose ground shot was easily saved by Vasco SC goalkeeper Shilton Fernandes. Vasco SC in their attempt through Jerose Oliveira shot wide in the 10th minute.
After some attacking football, SCC Cavelossim in the 35th minute tried to open account. Joel Fernandes, Under-20 player floated the ball to Joshua who in turn dribbled past couple of SCC Cavelossim defenders and shot towards the goal but to his dismay the shot hit the goal post and rebound back, but his second attempt too was shot wide.
Crossing over, this time it was a neck-and-neck contest fought with man to man marking. Vasco SC through Varney Kallon squandered an open chance to score in the 62nd minute which Balwinder Singh of SCC Cavelossim tackled. While substitute Clencio Pinto for SCC Cavelossim failed to connect a ball in the box of Vasco SC in the 65th minute which was beautifully supplied by Joel.
Vasco SC took the lead in the 77th minute, a pass by Chinedu Ejiogu to substitute Agnelo Colaco saw the latter placing the ball into the net.
Thereafter, Clencio tapped the ball to Joshua, who made a run into the rival goal, to score the much needed equaliser in the 80th minute.
SCC Cavelossim should have scored the match winner in the 82nd minute but unmarked Joshua shot blindly into the hands of Vasco SC goalkeeper.
In another match, Curtorim Gymkhana failed to report on Cuncolim ground to play against Guardian Angel SC, thereby giving a chance for walkover.
