PANJIM: Shrimati High School registered a comfortable 61-run victory over Mahila Nutan High School, in the final of President’s Cup, inter-school girls cricket tournament, organized by Goa Cricket Association (GCA), at GCA Academy ground, Porvorim. They won the tournament for the third consecutive time.
Batting first, Shrimati High School scored 157/4 in 20 overs. Avisha Kalangutkar (35), Sahara Sayed (32 not out), Diksha Gawde (23) and Samiksha Vernekar (8) performed well. Uma Pandit picked up one wicket for 32 runs while Shalini Kepkar also picked up one wicket for 25 runs.
Mahila Nutan High School were bowled out for 96 in 20 overs. Riya Naik (33), Uma Pandit (6), Priyanka Chari (4) and Mayashree Bandokar (3) tried hard to register a victory for their team.
Sneha Bomkar (15/2), Samiksha Vernekar (25/2), Avisha Kalangutkar (27/2), Saishree Kamat (11/1), Tanaya Vagonkar (6/1) bowled good.
The winners took home Rs 10,000 while the runners-up got Rs 7,000. Individual prizes, best bowler of the tournament Riya Naik, best batswomen of the tournament Avisha Kalangutkar, women of the series Riya Naik and women of the match Avisha Kalangutkar.
