Six in fray for top post

39 candidates to contest for the 13-member Executive Committee; Nine clubs directed to submit clear documents today

PANJIM: The Goa Cricket Association Election Committee announced the final list of nominees for the elections slated on June 28 which included six names for the top post at the association.
Current GCA President Dr Shekhar Salkar, secretary Chetan Desai and former president Vinod Phadke’s nominations have been accepted, on Friday during the scrutiny by the Election Committee headed by former judge of Bombay High court Justice A P Lawande, senior advocate Nitin Sardessai and Rajnikant Lawandis. 
Suraj Lotlikar, Akbar Mulla and Vallabh Prabhu are the other three members in the fray for the post of GCA president.
The withdrawal timing for the post of president is from 10.30 a.m. to 11 a.m., on Saturday. 
The Election Committee has not given clearances to the nominees of nine clubs out of the total 104 clubs eligible to vote due to unclear documentation. The nine clubs are Dempo Cricket Club, Young Stars of Moula, Navhind Cricket Club, Amravati Sports Club, Vasco City XI, Shirgao Gymkhana, Global Sports Club, Colvale Cricket Club and Siolim Sports Club. The clubs have to report to the Election Committee from 11 a.m. to 11.30 a.m. with proper documentations of their outgoing committee’s. 
The club president or secretary is eligible to cast their vote. In their absence, their nominees can vote.
The list of candidates for the post of life member includes Sujay Netravalkar, Sudin Kamat, Ketan Bhatikar, Arun Bicholkar and Gaurish Dhond. Only one life member will be elected in the 14-member Managing Committee of the GCA.
There are a total of 39 candidates in the Executive Committee member list which are Abdul Khan, Akbar Mulla, Amaresh Naik, Atul Naik, Chandu Lamani, Chetan Desai, Dattaram Shetgaonkar, Daya Pagi, Desh Kinlekar, Dr Aghuvendra, Govind Gaonkar, Hemant Angle, Jamir Carol, Ketan Bhatikar, Mahesh Candolkar, Meghnath Shirodkar, Mohan Chodankar, Naik Manohar Pango, Pankaj Naik, Prabhjeet Sandhu, Prakash Phadte, Prasad Phatrerpekar, Sanjay Kanekar, Sayed Majid, Sharad Chopdekar, Shrikrishna Tari, Subash Phaldessai, Sudesh Prabhu Desai, Sunil Prabhu, Suraj Lotlikar, Vallabh Prabhu, Venkatesh Dessai, Vijay Parsekar, Vilas RG Dessai, Vinod A Phadke, Yatin Kamurlikar and Namdev Phadte.
