PANJIM, FEB 19
Reigning world and National Champion Pankaj Advani once again justified his numero uno status by winning all the three matches that he played so far in the National Billiards Selection tournament here at Clube Tennis de Gaspar Dias, Miramar. Advani thus remained as the only unbeaten player till now in the Championship.
While Pankaj kept on blanking Sourav Kothari, Rupesh Shah and Dhruv Sitwala by an identical margin of 3-0, it was hard time for the second seed and eight times World Billiards Champion Geet Sethi as he lost his first two matches to Rupesh Shah and Sourav Kothari respectively before posting his first win of the tournament against B Bhaskar of Karnataka. Next to Pankaj, the other player who is steadily climbing up the ladder is the former World no. 2 Dhruv Sitwala of Petroleum Sports Promotion Board. After losing to Pankaj, Dhruv quickly got down into the business and comfortably defeated B Bhaskar, Sourav Kothari and Rupesh Shah and remained at the second spot at the end of the third session of play.
National Ladies Snooker Champion Vidya Pillai who suffered a surprise defeat at the hands of Neeta Sanghvi yesterday, consolidated her position today by posting two good wins against Meenal Thakur and Suniti Damani
