MARGAO: St Anthony SC, Assolda grounded Sporting Club Davorlim 5-4 via the tie-breaker to move into the semi-finals of the 39th St Joseph Festival Football tournament, organized by Dramapur Sports Club, at Dramapur ground, on Sunday.
In the first half, the teams played attacking football but their strikers lacked finishing.
St Anthony SC could have taken an early lead as Seby Fernandes made inroads but his promising move was foiled by the rival defence.
In the 23rd minute, Sporting Club Davorlim’s Joel Fernandes saw his effort sail inches over.
Crossing over, St Anthony SC broke the deadlock through Socorro Fernandes’ powerful shot off a cross by Seby Fernandes in the 40th minute.
However, Sporting Club Davorlim equalized through Venson Figureido’s grounder.
In the tie-beaker, St Anthony SC scored through Seby Fernandes, Socorro Fernandes, Jerry Fernandes and Agnes Vaz while Sporting Club Davorlim converted through Joel Furtado, Paxton Gomes and Agnelo Colaco.
