MARGAO: Verna Sports Club knocked-out Ugem Rising Club 2-1 to move into the quarter-finals of the 6th Our Lady of Fatima Cup Football tournament, organized by Dicarpale Sports Club, at Dicarpale ground, on Sunday. The teams were locked 1-1 at half time.
Ugem Rising Club took the lead through Cleto Fernandes’ deft placement in the 20th minute after connecting a cross by Sani Gomes.
Thereafter, Verna SC equalized through Stefin Satarkar in the 28th minute off a cross by Santan Rego.
Post resumption, Verna SC scored the match-winner through the boots of Roger Braganza, who received a perfect pass from Savio Fernandes.
