It was a flying start for Cavelossim as they took the lead in the third minute through Mathew Colaco as the latter headed in off a flag-kick taken by Presley Pinto.
However, their joy was short-lived as Akeraj Martins equalizd for The Flaming Oranje in the 19th minute.
The Panjim outfit continued in the same rhythm and surged ahead in the 34th minute through Daryl Costa’s grounder off an assist by Sherwin D’Cunha.
Crossing over, Sporting Clube did not give their rivals time to make a comeback as Jesmon Soares made it 3-1 off a supply by Daryl Costa in the 46th minute.
Minutes later, Jesmon secured his brace with a deft placement while Delbert Fernandes added another goal to the tally in the 47th minute.
Sporting Clube were 6-1 up in the 66th minute through Delbert’s brace but Cavelossim reduced the margin with a goal by Presley Pinto.
In the 83rd minute, Delbert secured his hat-trick off a supply by Daryl Costa.
Cavelossim coach Jonathan Faleiro felt his team played well but there were some defensive lapses which they had to pay the price for.
On the other hand, Sporting Clube coach Norbert Gonsalves expressed happiness and felt his boys gave a good account of themselves and combined well as a unit.
