A fiery encounter produced a goalless result between Sporting Clube de Goa and Sesa Football Academy in the Kingfisher Pro League at Duler Stadium, here on Sunday.
Five players received yellow cards – Vivek Singh Karia, Jayganesh Goltekar, Gabriel Fernandes and Don Bosco Andrew were the four Sesa players booked with Fulgencio Cardoza being the only Sporting player to go into the referee’s book.
Sporting dominated the first half but could not break the deadlock, playing with Agnelo D’Souza as their lone striker upfront in the absence of Emmanuel.
Sesa were missing key players, but their midfield worked hard to break down their opponents.
Sporting’s best attempt fell to Agnelo Colaco whose shot was saved by Sesa custodian Shayan Roy after Jovel Martins did well to beat his marker and send in a good cross.
Sesa made a change to the forward line after half an hour, bringing on Gabriel Fernandes for Charles Miranda.
Sesa’s best chance of the first half fell to Lesley who played a wall pass with Gabriel before shooting but Sporting custodian Felix D’Souza did well to save.
Five minutes into the second half, Sporting brought on Joshua Maguire for Mackroy Peixoto in midfield to try and open up the opposition.
In the 55th, Freiman Peixoto struck a fine volley from outside the box where Sesa’s keeper did well to tip over the crossbar.
In the closing stages, Sporting continued to advance forward but Sesa did well to keep them out. In the end, both teams had to be content with a draw.
