The election manifesto of former Sanguem Municipal Council (SMC) chairperson Minguelinho D’Costa, who is contesting from Ward 2 (Khairikanttem/Pangulna) in the ensuing municipal elections, was released on Sunday.
The manifesto was released in the presence of D’Costa’ supporters and voters. D’Costa in his manifesto has 10-point agenda with focus on all-round development of Sanguem Municipal areas with support and co-operation from all the elected representatives from the council.
The manifesto also talks of bringing on track the administrative affairs at SMC, which is allegedly at cross roads and provision for payment of electricity bills of the poor and the needy subject to the limit of Rs 100 per month after due scrutiny and study of individual cases.
Other visions focused in the manifesto includes development of crematoriums of all religions on priority basis, allocation of shops at the SUDA complex under construction as per the need and choice of the affected shopkeepers, formulation of schemes for safeguarding and protection of all religious structures in the municipal areas and timely payment of salaries working at the council which many a times is kept pending for months together for want of funds.
D’Costa in his manifesto has also chalked plans for the formation of a special cell in the municipal office which will deal exclusively with the power problems faced by the citizens.
The staff attached to the Cell will work on the issue after being informed on a phone call.
The manifesto also talks of giving priority to the local contractors in the allocation of municipal tenders wherever feasible and law permits.
