PANJIM: St Lawrence Agassaim edged past St Anthony Goa Velha 3-2 in the tie-breaker to clinch the 13th Edwin Fernandes (ex-player of Salgoacar SC ) Memorial Cup, organised by Nazareth Sporting Siridao and played at County ground, Swindon, United Kingdon, recently.
Joe opened the account for the Goa Velha but the joy was short lived as Agassaim levelled terms within 10 minutes through by Buku.
Both the team were locked 1-1 during the regulation time. Agassaim proved to be the better shooters in the tie-breaker.
In all, 16 teams participated in the tournament.
St Lawrence were richer by Rs 1,30,000 while Goa Velha had to be content with Rs 90,000.
Agnel Fernandes was the chief guest and gave away the prizes in the presence of Jafed Rodrigues, Wilson Fernandes, Jhonny Fernandes, Bostiao Fernandes, Jose Marian Rodrigues and Nazareth Fernandes.
