MARGAO: St Paul Pedda blanked Young Boys of Old Trafford 2-0 to cruise into the finals of Benaulim inter-ward football tournament organized by United Club of Benaulim at Ximbumoll ground, Benaulim, Thursday. There was no score at the lemon break.
In the opening session both teams had an equal number of scoring chances but the defenders stood tall in protecting their respective citadel.
Post resumption, St Paul showed greater urgency and attacked the rival goal with well orchestrated raids. Stalin Bapitista found the success soon after resumption when he picked up the ball from Steven Baptista and slammed the it to the far corner of the net.
Spurred by the success, St Paul intensified their attacks and doubled their lead when Xamaro Rodrigues capitalized on a lapse by the rival goalkeeper bulged the net.
St Paul Pedda will now meet United Club of Benaulim on May 19.
